What is pH and why pH is so important?

The pH scale measures how acidic or alkaline a substance is. The pH scale ranges from 0 to 14. A pH higher than 7 is alkaline (basic) and less than 7 is acidic and exact 7 is neutral. pH stands for potential hydrogen. It is defined as the measurement of electrical resistance between negative and positive ions in the body. Positive ions are acid forming and negative ions are alkaline (basic). The pH measurement looks at how these positive and negative ions push each other. What is this got to do with our body? In order to maintain a healthy disease-free body our body fluids pH must be slightly alkaline which is close to 7 to 7.4
For blood to effectively act as a medium for oxygen and other vital nutrients, the pH must be in this range of 7.4 too acidic or too alkaline is harmful. Our body always re – balance to be within this range, but it depends mainly on the food we feed it and the habits. Because our body creates acid, we must neutralise it by eating proper diet and maintaining healthy habits. Diet is very important to maintain all bodily fluids pH to be balanced. If pH is not maintained, we are more susceptible to diseases.

DIFFERENT WAYS OF ALKALIZING THE BODY NATURALLY
    • Drink more water, about 6 to 8 glasses of water throughout the day
    • To warm water add a whole lemon juice and 5 ml / one teaspoon of honey and drink first in the morning
    • To a glass of water add 30 ml lemon juice and 5 grams / one teaspoon, baking soda and drink
    • To a glass of water add one teaspoon (5 ml) of Apple Cider Vinegar and drink
    • Add lemon juice to the salads
    • Add unsalted almonds to diet
    • Consume more vitamin A, C, D rich foods
    • Reduce sugar, non-caffeine foods, vegetarian foods, alcohol, smoking that makes body pH more acidic
    • With non-vegetarian food add lemon juice or after food, drink lemon juice (no added sugar to juice)
    • On daily basis eat more alkaline foods like lemon, banana, cucumber, bell pepper, celery, avocado, leafy vegetables, root vegetables, Garlic, cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli
    • Oil pulling for 5 minutes with cold pressed coconut oil. Put one tablespoon of coconut oil in the mouth, swish for about 5 minutes and spit out the oil.

    • Fill a bottle with water and add slices of one lemon, one cucumber slices, an inch of sliced ginger, and few mint leaves. Drink this water throughout the day till evening, instead of water. Keep refilling the water. Make fresh one the next day. This can be done monthly once for a week.
